For 88 years I’ve resided on this not-so-very-big planet that wobbles in a slightly elliptical orbit around this huge gaseous source of heat, light and other basic necessities that we call the Sun.
At the same time, the planet spins around on its own axis in a 24 hour pattern, along with its own satellite which we call the Moon. Once in a while, comets, meteors and meteorites spin through the stratosphere, but do little to disturb the pattern. (As far as I know)
Very little in our human world remains perfect for long. Time passes and what worked in “the olden days” becomes passe, inadequate and/or obsolete.
We continuously screw up and are forced to make changes – hopefully improvements. Nature works in the same way.
I remember driving through a blackened area in the woods where there had been a forest fire the previous year. Tiny shoots of wildflowers brightened up the huge depressing graveyard of burned although still upright, trees.
Mushroom pickers would soon be setting up their camps to gather morels, and within a year or two, delicious huckleberries would grow where none had grown before.
Throughout my lifetime so many exciting (at times scary ) situations were continuously developing and/or evolving. Mistakes were made, followed by the changes to complete the learning/ healing procedures that were called for at the time. It was an ongoing process.
The Television News Of The Day was followed by everyone from eight to eighty. Not many eighty- year-olds were still around in those days. And the kids were anticipating the Disney show on the only channel we could pick up on our antenna.
Before television we devoured newspaper headlines, stories and cartoons, listened to radio broadcasts and programs. Now there’s the Internet…
I love the Internet. I can put words together and convince people that I still have most of my marbles!
