A Poem a Day Project
Last night I dreamt that I was young,
That life for me was endless joy,
I knew no right, I knew no wrong,
I only knew my mother’s songs.
She sang of love, of God above,
And birds that sang the whole night through,
I knew no pain, I knew no strife,
I only knew a happy life.
My mother sang of girls and boys,
Who flew airplanes across the world,
Of cowboys riding through the west,
And churches in the wilderness.
My mother’s songs instilled in me,
A sense of hope for days to come,
In spite of setbacks life was good,
And things would progress as they should.
