I cannot believe the tendency to blame female victims of sexual assault has once again been exhumed from the grave!  The niece of  Toronto’s mayor is the latest in the city to suggest that a woman’s mode of dress can be a contributing factor in a sexual assault. She advised girls – among other precautions- not to “dress like a whore.”

Okay, so we advise our teenage daughters to lengthen their hemlines and cover their belly buttons- the message there being that we don’t want the little darlings to appear ready, willing and able.  But, as a rule, teenage boys do not rape a girl simply because she appears to be passing out an invitation….

How do whores dress…Do they dress alike?? How much bosom, leg, belly button do they display?? (Or in some cultural groups, elbow and/or countenance?)

Vulnerability is what these sicko’s mostly look for in their victims.  One practical suggestion is for girls to avoid having their hair in dangling braids or ponytails – not because it is a turn-on – but because that it’s easier to restrain victims during an assault. Police say perpetrators  deliberately stalk girls with plaited hair for that very reason. They also prefer smaller frailer victims for obvious reasons.
