OVER THE YEARS

Over the years I managed

to detach myself

from what I had perceived

important

the preceding year

Each year as I became older

and wiser

I gained new insights

until I turned eighty

when my perspectives began

to change

I permitted myself to unlearn

certain insights

embedded in my brain

I began to unlearn

almost everything

Soon I will be as a child

enjoying food, a good night’s sleep

happy to share with friends

At peace with myself

and my creator
