The problem of psychosis

The “problem” of dealing with mental illness, particularly for those suffering with symptoms of schizophrenia:

Why not invite people who have had their own personal experiences with psychosis, to assist with ideas on how to detect what symptoms to look for , and how to listen and deal with what an individual may be experiencing within his distorted reality.

People with psychotic illnesses are not psychotic all of the time. Often, they have reached the stage where they are well enough to be considered ‘in a state of recovery:

Most people suffering from schizophrenia deal very well with their symptoms, particularly if they receive medical treatment that works well for them. They could be a valuable asset for medical workers attempting to determine whether a person is a danger to himself or others.

Mental Health Advocasy Groups etc.

Something I’ve been thinking about.. I’ve been on a number of family oriented mental health advovacy groups over the years. Some included a few members who had experienced what no one else had ever experienced. Perhaps these so-called “consumers” could assist healthcare workers in communicating with and understanding, what’s going on in the minds
of someone suffering from psychosis?
