I think I wrote this for myself. I need to remind myself that friends who express views different from my own, remain thier own sweet selves, they have not given up on their morals or become mentally ill. Their thought processes are their own, as are mine. I need to do my best not to stir the pot.
SOCIAL INTERACTIONS
So much B.S expressed
By those opposed
And those in favour
Just because we are right
Does not mean
That they are wrong
Could we have less instances of animosity if there was less competition in every thing we do or say?
I’m thinking of differences of opinion when it comes to interactions between political, religious, medical views. Maybe if, instead of saying and writing that Trudeau (or “The Liberals’) are horrible, rotten, incapable, we could simply say “I like Pierre or The Conservatives’ best because they are NOT HORRIBLE INCAPABLE etc.
I WISH WHEN VOICING AN OPINION ON CANADIAN AND AMERICAN POLITICS PEOPLE WOULD USE THE TERM “LIBERAL PARTY” INSTEAD OF TRUDEAU, AND USE THE TERM “REPUBLICAN PARTY” INSTEAD OF TRUMP. THATS HOW WE VOTED IN THE OLD DAYS.
THE POLITICAL PARTY ITSELF IS THE POWER BEHIND THE THRONE. THATS WHERE THE POLICIES THAT BENEFIT CERTAIN MONEYED INDIVIDUALS LIE. EVERYONE SHOULD READ JEAN CHRETIEN’S BOOK “IT’S ALL ABOUT WHO YOUR FRIEND’S ARE…..or to that effect. Not the exact quote.
On where to find Truth in News difference in terms
Misinformation versus Disinformation:
I think misinformation is kindlier. It suggests the information was given in error. Disinformation suggests the wrong information was given on purpose, the informer knew darn well it was wrong.
The word “liar” is being used indiscrimately a lot, in regards to politician’s comments. To me a liar has deliberately attempted to disinform – he knows what he says is not accurate. Personally I believe a lot of people whose job is to inform, do a poor job of it, possibly because of carelessness or maybe time constraints. That’s my story anyway.
Being Old School I miss newspapers, not the kind you have to read online. I also prefer what’s left of the truth that’s on our Canadian TV station News- you need to watch each one as their facts sometimes differ. It’s all time based. Jounalists, anchors have very short timelines. Most of the stories probably are constrained somewhat by interests of comercial producers (that’s where the money comes from although CBC receives some subsidies) The thing is there is a lot of “yellow” journalism that arrives in the mail and on the internet. I know people who believe stuff that’s intended to manipulate them. Sorry for the rant!
Jnnl Taheri said cbc completly funded by government….we “oldies” listen to CBC Radio. Local radio is weekday mornings 6-8 or 9 am. One radio program worthwhile for news with comments from listeners is Cross Country Check-Up on Sunday afternoons.
Once in awhile I find myself ruminating over issues that create a bit of anxiety, something an old lady like myself needs to avoid. Recently I tried using self-hypnosis as a way of learning how to deal with certain social issues. I fell into a sort of dream state of mind and came up with the following mental tools:
BE STRONG: (I flex my mental muscles, maybe sing, play music, dance.)
BE SMART: (I think about the various aspects of the situation and how and why they affect me the way they do. I come up with honest answers. )
Those two things build up my self confidence. I should now have the tools to push myself through the mire of the situation.
The third and final tool is a toughie.
BE KIND: I need to slide away from my self- confident, self righteous state of mind into a softer, more generous spirit. But I also mustn’t take away from my own confidence, my own sense of self worth.
Think I’ll try my SSK method and see if it works…
