Haikus May 2024

Ready to travel
Pink bow on my suitcase
Pink sweater to match

May dark clouds gather
And rain upon our parade
The dry earth needs water

Home to the dry north
From the dripping wet south
Put away the umbrella

Waiting for the green
Wanting to plant flowers
But it’s snowing

I hear the birds sing
No longer dizzy
Ear wax is gone!

Deer munch grass by our door
They don’t mind that we live here
They live here too

It’s time for my nap
That’s fine when you’re eighty
If not, you’re just lazy

Sun peeps through in East
Bare boned poplars feel warmth
Leaves will soon waken

Egg lady’s at my door
Fresh eggs from live chickens
Not those from the store

Want to play Bingo
Win yourself some cookies
Cake is for blackout

A-fib, C-pap, vitals,
Old age brings new language
To help us live longer

Wings, dozens of wings
Tastes so good but what about
The rest of the chicken?

My roots are what I am
From Britain, China, Holland and
One percent Vietnam

A deer in the night
Silhouetted in light
Others strolling the dark

I love dandelions
She said in early spring
Then, she mowed them down

Poplar tree stretches high
New leafs flutter in the sky
Mother tree’s happy
