Schizophrenia and Pot
Everytime I am asked to talk about schizophrenia, I find myself agonizing over the simple unadulterated truth about a substance that has been PROVEN to trigger symptoms of the disease – most often in young people. Yes, it’s that fun stuff that will settle your nerves and make sex even more wonderful than what Mother Nature intended. But a marijuana induced hallucinatory state of mind can result in damage to the delicate brain structure. If symptoms of a psychosis last longer than 6 months a diagnosis of schizophrenia becomes relevant. But the stuff is legal, you say, that can’t be true? But it IS true.
