THERE’S A LONG ROUGH ROAD ‘TWEEN HOPE AND CHANGE

I wrote the following poem in August 2015. I wanted to commemorate the minor miracle of how a group of “artsy” folk in the Village of Fraser Lake was able to pull off the first successful Fraser Lake Festival of the Arts- in the pouring rain yet!

There’s a long rough road ‘tween hope and change
When you are all alone.
But with a roomful of folks from various walks
And a positive correlation of talks
Similar passions and interests arise
To rearrange, change and prioritize.
Hope for the future begins to unfurl
A group of like-minded can change the world!

MUSIC’S THE LANGUAGE OF THE SOUL

Music’s the language of the soul
Whether it be Tchaikovsky
Hank Williams or
“Old Black Joe”

Music’s the language of the soul
Reliving thoughts
And feelings
Experienced long ago.

Music’s the language of the soul
Lyrics and melodic
Combinations
Intrinsically enrolled.

Music’s the language of the soul
Elvis Presley and
Michael Jackson
Universally known.

Music’s the language of the soul
In fellowship
We process
The language we all know.

FRASER LAKE WILL BE ON TV!

From Fraser Lake Village Office News: “STILL STANDING [CBC show] will produce an episode of “Still Standing” in Fraser Lake. This production will showcase our many positive attributes. The program highlights small Canadian towns that have experienced economic challenges but are working to revitalize. The story of our community is told through the interview of community members by the show’s host; comedian Johnny Harris…”

Oh my! Many of us are busily searching through reruns of old TV shows to discover who Johnny Harris really is. We’ve watched him on Murdock Mysteries but the show doesn’t feature Johnny’s comedic talents as much as Still Standing does. An episode from a show produced in Telkwa a year or so ago is on cbc.ca and it’s hilarious! Can hardly wait for the hilarity to be here during the week of April 3rd to 7th!

And the month of March (which is coming in like a lion weather-wise) also promises to be a fun month. Especially for music lovers! Here’s the schedule for Legion Events – so far.
